For decades, Laiya has been the poster beach of Batangas. No surprise there because it remains one of the best beach destinations in the province. Over the years, it has become a favorite among travelers from Manila, thanks to its proximity and wide selection of accommodations, ranging from budget guest rooms to high-end beachfront resorts.
Technically, Laiya refers to two barangays in San Juan, but the term has become synonymous with the entire southern coast of the municipality. Resorts that are located in neighboring barangays are also being marketed as Laiya properties. For example, La Luz Beach Resort is, in fact, within the territory of nearby Barangay Hugom, but it is often tagged by travel agencies as a Laiya resort.
Because of this, in this post, we’re including resorts, hotels, and guesthouses in San Juan, including but not limited to Laiya. Here are the best beach resorts in the area as scored by Agoda customers.

Laiya in the New Normal
Ready to hit the road to Laiya? Not so fast! Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, health and safety policies have been implemented to protect both tourists and locals. There are a few requirements that you need to take care of and protocols to follow.
Here’s how we suggest to plan your Laiya trip.
- Contact the resort first. Once you have picked a resort or hotel, get in touch with the staff and ask about the requirements and protocols. They should tell you about the updated travel requirements and other things you need to know. READ: LAIYA TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS!
- Work on all the requirements. Remember: they will only accept medical or health certificates that have been issued within the past 3 days.
- Confirm your resort reservation. If you have all the requirements or you’re sure you’ll be able to secure them before your travel date, then finalize your booking. The resort may share with you a copy of the health declaration form that you need to fill out.
- On the day of travel, present the requirements at the Tourism Office Area. It’s located along Laiya Road after La Vista Subdivision in Barangay Buhay na Sapa. It’s on the right side of the road. You’ll also need to settle the ecological fee (P20). Once everything is in order, you’ll be handed a Referral Slip.
- Proceed to your resort. Upon check-in, submit the Referral Slip handed to you at the Tourism Office.
IMPORTANT! Some resorts implement additional safety policies. Yes, aside from those required by the local government. For example, some resorts require guests to undergo a SAME-DAY RAPID COVID-19 ANTIGEN TEST upon entry. The cost is to be shouldered by the guests. To be sure, contact the hotel or resort management first before booking.

Important Reminders
- Pay attention to the details and fine prints. Some resorts look cheap but mandatory meals are not included. These meals can take much of the cost. For good measure, contact the hotel management about their mandatories and other rules.
- Pick accommodations that match your preferences and budget. Laiya has an incredibly diverse array of lodging options that cater to all types of travelers. You’ll easily find cheap but comfortable places to stay or high-end resorts for an ideal staycation. If you just want a room with a bed and toilet, you don’t have to spend extravagantly. You can find cheap but comfortable guesthouses in Laiya. For those who are willing to pay more, you’ll find plenty of mid-range to high-end resorts in this part of Batangas. Some are beachfront, some are located further inland. Some are in Laiya itself, some are marketed as Laiya but located elsewhere. Check out the amenities, location, and other policies before booking.
- Go for value for money. The most expensive accommodation isn’t always the best choice. A combination of location, good reviews, facilities, services, and pricing allows you to get the most out of every peso you spend.
